What is Microneedling?

The Skin Pen is the world’s first FDA-cleared microneedling device. Microneedling is a great treatment for skin resurfacing as well as a leading treatment for fine lines and wrinkles, reducing pore size, and filling in acne scars. The SkinPen treatment works in three simple steps which activate the skin’s natural healing processes:

  1. Inflammation: hundreds of tiny needle punctuations occur every second through the epidermis into the dermis creating a controlled inflammatory response for tissue repair, removing debris, increasing blood flow, and creating new tissue.

  2. Proliferation: the micro-wounds created are rebuilt with new granulation cells that include collagen proteins. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.

  3. Remodeling: The micro-wounds are replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels which are comprised or rich collagen and elastin proteins. These proteins improve skin youthfulness.

Your medical history will be reviewed to make sure you are an appropriate candidate for Microneedling. Your provider will review all information about the treatment with you and will be able to answer any questions you may have.
You will put on a topical numbing cream 35 minutes prior to the appointment to ensure the treatment will be comfortable. The treatment will take approximately 30-45 minutes. A complimentary stem cell serum will be applied after the treatment. Your skin will appear moderately sunburned for the next 1-2 days and some skin flaking may occur. You may see immediate smoothing in the first week and will continue to see improvement for several months as collagen remodeling occurs.

How many treatments will I need?
We typically recommend beginning with a series of three treatments, each spaced approximately one month apart, to establish optimal initial results. After this initial series, maintenance treatments are customized based on individual needs and skin response. Some clients choose to continue treatments every 3 to 4 months to support ongoing skin renewal, while others may benefit from treatments twice per year. Your provider will tailor a long-term treatment plan based on how your skin responds and your aesthetic goals.

Am I a candidate for Microneedling?

What about a vampire facial or PRP?
PRP, or platelet rich plasma, is a component of the "vampire facial" a treatment which has gained notoriety on social media over the past several years in which a clients blood is drawn and the plasma is extracted then placed over the face after Microneedling at a considerable service charge.
